As the sun rises on this, the first day of the Carnival, there is an undeniable sense of excitement in the air.

This is the start of the 2013 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival and trainers, owners, jockeys and punters alike are ready for action.

Not only is this the first meet, it’s also the first leg of the SKYCITY Triple Crown Bonus. This bonus is awarded to the horse who wins the HOT100 Darwin Guineas, the SKYCITY NT Derby and the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup, and there are some great contenders for the crown.

Off the track there are a variety of luncheons and this year HOT100 brings you the HOT100 Young Guns event proudly supporting the Leukaemia Foundation! Make sure you are at the place to be seen this HOT100 Guineas Race Day from 12pm – 6pm in the fully air-conditioned Schweppes Pavilion.

For only $45 per head you will receive two standard drinks (beer, wine or cider), entry to the race day, entry to this private function AND a $10 donation will go to the Leukaemia Foundation on your behalf!

Sat 13, July 2013 - Day 2 - Trans Territory Food Chief Minister’s Cup Day

This day is as much about racing as it is about families.

Trans Territory Foods (TTF), long-time supporters of the Darwin Turf Club, create a day filled with fun. Inviting guests and clients to join them in the Executive Marquee, TTF throws a great race day party.
 
The Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, The Hon. Adam Giles is sure to be on-course presenting the $55,000 prize to the winner of the TTF Chief Minister’s Cup.
 
This is an action-packed family day out with fantastic racing and FREE fun for the children. From face-painting and bouncy castles to Life Be in It games and photos taken with one of Crocosaurus Cove’s baby crocodiles this is all about the kids! Best of all, it’s FREE for children 18 and under, accompanied by a paying adult. A day of entertainment for the whole family.

It’s SKYCITY NT Derby Day and that means style, ceremony, and of course, big racing.
 
The stakes are high so expect some big excitement at the track. This is the second stage for the winner of the HOT100 Guineas to stay in the running to pull off the SKYCITY Triple Crown in the Cup.
 
Other features of the day are the Buntine Handicap for the stayers and WFA for the sprinters.
 
This is the day for classic elegance where the fashion stakes are equally as high. Traditionally, black and white is the prominent colour scheme for women, while men often chose to wear a grey morning suit, peacock vest and pin-stripe pants.

The big day is here!
 
The 2013 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup - the climax to 8 days of fantastic racing and a sensational social scene.
 
This is when Darwin truly shines, showing just how good we are at hosting an event on a grand scale. One month of Carnival culminates in this day to remember.
 
It's the final leg of the SKYCITY Triple Crown, we may just experience history being repeated as happened in 1989 and 1996.
 
Or can Hawks Bay claim a miraculous third-straight Carlton Mid Darwin Cup victory?
 
In just over two minutes on the track, we find out who will take home the glory, the kudos and $200,000 purse.
 
Trackside - the marquees are set up, the bars are stocked, the food is prepared, the punters are ready to party and are dressed to impress the judges in their best racing attire with the to win great prizes on the day.
