Happy Jan back at Bay

Sat, January 14 2012

A rested and refreshed Jan Cameron is keen to make an impression upon her return to the Top End horse racing scene today.

Cameron spent three weeks holiday catching up with family and friends in New Zealand, but it is back to business for her at Fannie Bay this afternoon.

"It was good to get away for a break, I love being home in the cool weather, it makes for a change from the humidity here," Cameron said.

"But it is nice being back in Darwin and I can't wait to get back to the races."

Cameron is not the only one, having been booked for four rides on the program, but it is the two for master horseman David Bates that should prove popular with punters.

Smart mare Adoranova will be hunting her second successive victory this preparation in the NT Major Events Company Rating 70 Handicap (1100m).

"I think she is the best of my rides," Cameron said.

"She won well first-up with Cara (Angel) aboard and while this is a good race, she'll be very competitive."

The Bates-trained Rogue Warrior looks well-placed in the Cancer Council NT Benchmark 70 Handicap (1200m).

The five-year-old has his hoof on the till, having been minor placed in his past two starts behind Reflex and even with 61kg, Cameron thinks he is well-placed.

"This is my first time on him, but it is not the strongest race he's been in," Cameron said.

"He is a big horse, so the weight should not be a problem for him."

Can't Agree, trained by her partner Mark Nyhan, remains far from a certain-starter, having jarred up following his runner-up effort at the Bay on New Year's Eve.

A decision on whether he starts will be made this morning, while the Tayarn Halter-trained Prince Of Attitude rounds out Cameron's book.

Punters should also take note that apprentice Alana Brown has outridden her 3kg claim and will now claim 2kg after her 20th Top End winner Kingsford last Saturday.

Racing is from 3.27pm.
