THOUSANDS of fillies frocked up and flocked to Fannie Bay for Ladies Day at Darwin Turf Club last Wednesday.
There were few stallions in sight, and those who did brave the girls' day out were in their own daring looks.
Block coloured frocks bustled for space alongside mix-matched combinations of prints.
Statement headwear from fascinator to hat and towering hairstyles were all on display.
Amy Davis took out the best dressed gong in the Schweppes Marquee wearing a Sass & Bide bodysuit with accessories
"I was thrilled to win," she said. "I went for a classic look with a modern twist."
Kate Hudspith came second, and Aisling Purcell third.
ConfideNTial columnist Brooke Bond was dressed to impress in a flowing cream number. She said classic comfort was her tip.
Amber Walker was a knockout party girl in layered red.
"I wanted to be dressed in everything from the Territory," she said.
Melissa Campain earned herself a nomination to the fashions on the field for her classic chic style.
"My girlfriend made the dress for me," she said.
Former Darwin Cup Ambassador Stephanie Lambert was at the event, causing a stir.
